Preparing to Take an ASQ Certification Exam
This is my attempt to answer this question to the best of my ability. I am an ASQ CQE. I took the exam about 17 years ago.
But given all I know about ASQ here’s my best shot.
First, visit the ASQ certification website http://www.asq.org/training-and-certification.html
Click through all the Certification stuff concentrating on the exam you are interested in. Note especially the Exam date and Application Deadline.
If possible take an ASQ Certification Review course. We have not had many in our area the last few years due to low demand. But you never know when the education chair may be able to offer some, so keep your eyes and ears open and contact your local education chair to see if any are up coming.
Assuming none are up coming, here are some more thoughts:
· Get some study material from the Indiana Council of Quality. Material is available for most certifications and has generally been found to be of high quality and adequate to help one prepare for the exam. This is often the material used in review courses.
· Be prepared for many months of review and study, not just a couple of weeks, so pace yourself.
· Get copies of exam questions through the Indiana Council of Quality or other sources.
· Work through the exam questions and learn the topics addressed. Learn how to take these kind of tests. Consider taking some in a timed environment when you are near the end of your preparation to help you pace yourself.
· Use ASQ networks to seek out experts in certain fields to help you learn certain topics you may be weak in.
· Read the article “Certification Exam Tips, Trips and Traps” by James J. Rooney available from the ASQ National website for many more tips.
· Good luck with your endeavors.
Please let me know if I can help more.
